Macon, Georgia — We conclude Hypesouth’s 2023 Camp Series with an in-depth look at the Up Next Developmental Expo, our middle school event focusing on up and coming sixth, seventh, and eighth graders. Let’s check out Team South.
(16) Samerion McKenzie, 2028, Thomson MS
Camp Standout
Skilled, heady floor general that looks to score first, but also facilitates at a high-clip. His shiftiness off the bounce and ability to squeeze through crevices posed challenges for defenders all day.
(42) Travis Hart, 2029, Miller MS
Hart has natural passing instincts. He made the extra pass and always seemed to know where open teammates were. A high-IQ player that took pride in making the right play.
(33) LJ Davis, 2029, Perry MS
Davis was in attack mode each game. The south-paw Perry, Georgia product knocked down several stop-and-pop three pointers in transition and was consistent on a few tear-drop floaters in the lane. A solid young prospect with a high-ceiling. Especially, as a scorer.
(10) A’Mari Sparks, 2028, Ballard Hudson MS
Sparks owned the boards. He utilized his length on the inside to get easy putback buckets. A long player with intriguing upside who is worth keeping tabs on over the next few years.
(23) Cooper Lancaster, 2028, Gray Station MS
Lancaster had some nice flavor to his game. He was not shy about letting it fly from deep and showed some wiggle when defenders pressed him to put the ball on the floor.
(19) Wayne McCormick II, 2028, Gray Station MS
McCormick looked for contact on his way to the basket. He thrived penetrating the lane and made good on a few and-one opportunities at the rim. Camp coaches raved about his toughness throughout the day.
