Big time offseason performances have started to pay dividends for Nelson Phillips. Turning heads on the travel ball circuit this summer, he has quickly become one of Georgia’s most highly touted hoop prospects. The 6-foot-5 combo guard earned a 3-star rating and leaped into the Rivals 150 national rankings at No. 133 after previously being unranked.

His ascension began during the 2016 Bob Gibbons Tournament of Champions, where he put his entire repertoire on display. Phillips competed hard on both ends of the court and was arguably the most complete player in the tournament. His stellar offseason play has put his name alongside some of the nation’s best prep hoop prospects as well as a top priority on the recruiting trail.

wrhs The departure of Donovan Brown (Columbia Community College) and Marquez Callaway (University of Tennessee) will definitely leave a huge void to fill for Phillips’ Warner Robins (GA) squad. However, look for the improved swingman to lead the way for the new look Demons.

Butler, Georgia, Georgia State, Tennessee Tech, & Wake Forest are among the programs showing heavy interest in the rising junior.
