Stratford Academy (GA) junior guard Devin Butts had a coming out party during the 2017 spring and summer travel-ball live sessions, as he came into the offseason a virtually unknown player.

Skip to travel season’s end and the three-point specialist had become one of the more talked about prospects in mid-major circles. Several programs were steady spectators at his games this offseason and are continuing to stay on his trail heading into the school ball season.

On the recruitment side its been going pretty well, a lot of schools have been showing heavy interest in me, but I have no official offers right now. Mercer, Troy, and UNC-Greensboro have been in contact with me the most and I feel really good about all of them.”

UNC-Greensboro assistant coach Andre Morgan seems to be the most intrigued, as he spent a lot of time monitoring him this summer, which has really piqued Butt’s interest in the Spartans.

I like Coach Morgan a lot. He always reaches out and makes me feel like family. He invited me down to their elite camp following travel season, and really showed me a lot of love on my unofficial visit for Spartan Madness a couple weeks ago.”

With a little less than a month left until the start of school ball season, expect offers to start coming in any day now for the 6-5 marksman. Butts plans on taking a couple more visits prior to the season and feels good about the direction of his recruitment.
