This morning, Gulf Coast State College (FL) landed a commitment from Mary Persons guard Cameron Holden, one of the top players in Middle-Georgia. The 6-foot-5 wing came in at No.6 on Hypesouth’s preseason top-25 player rankings, but is expected to move up a couple spots in our final rankings after having a monster senior campaign. Holden helped the Bulldogs to a 23-5 overall record and led the mid-state in scoring this season pumping in 28.2 points per game. The multi-talented senior held over ten offers, but ultimately decided to become a Commodore.

“I chose Gulf Coast State because of my first impression of the coaching staff. They made me feel like a priority. Coach Powell (head coach) and Coach Jackson (assistant coach ) set the tone right away on how they would utilize my talents, as well as help me become a better man off the court. Also, on my visit I really loved the competitiveness of their practice, the guys really got after it. I know that comes from the intensity the staff brings. Overall, I feel great about my decision because I know I’ll become a much better player competing against high-level competition down in the Florida-Panhandle.”

Fellow Middle-Georgian, Maurice Gordon, will join Holden. The 6-foot-6 forward announced his commitment via Twitter on February 26, 2018. Gordon is considered the No.12 overall player in Middle-Georgia and is also a solid pickup for the Commodores. This season, he averaged 11.2-points and 5.8-rebounds per game for First Presbyterian Day.

“I picked Gulf Coast because it’s a beautiful place and the coaching staff made me feel at home and they stressed the importance of academics and moving their players on to higher levels which are both very important to me.”
