No. 1 Westside-Macon Seminoles (2-1)
The GHSA Class 3A No. 1 ranked Westside-Macon (GA) Seminoles have started to gel together after a slow start to the season. 5-star stud Khavon Moore is averaging 19-points, 6-rebounds, and 3.3-assists through three (3) games and has hit his stride over the last two games. However, the buzz surrounding this game comes as a result of the transfer of 6-foot-10 Kentrevious Jones. The big man was a three year starter for Central-Macon before abruptly transferring over to crosstown rival Westside for his senior season. Jones is chipping in 19.6-points and 5.1-rebounds per game for the Noles and is Xavier University bound at season’s end. Another sparkplug for the Seminoles is senior guard Samone Reed who is averaging 14.3-points, 4.8-assists, and 2-steals up to this point. Newcomer Trey Foster still has not found himself, but the 6-foot-2 point guard could be in play for a breakout game considering his history of solid play against the Chargers.
Others to watch for: Terric Allen, Greg Holloway, Omar Jones
Central-Macon Chargers (3-0)
The Chargers are off to a surprisingly hot start considering the loss of their top two players. 6-foot-3 combo guard Antarius McCoy opened the season with a 32-point/21-rebound outburst performance and has seemingly accepted the challenge of being the “go to guy” for Central. At the time being, the smooth playing senior is averaging 20-points and 10.1-rebounds. Also stepping up is senior Tyrice Paul who is adding 10.3-points and 3.4-assists per game. After sitting out the first game due to transfer issues, 6-foot-4 forward Kylan Hill recorded a double-double (10pts & 10rebs) in his debut on Tuesday night and will be a key component for the Chargers moving forward. In the first three games, Coach Taylor is going about nine players deep and uses a balanced attack to wear down opponents. The scrappy Central bunch will need a complete team effort on Friday night in order to defeat crosstown powerhouse Westside.
