Louisiana Lafayette picked up a commitment from Mississippi State transfer Devin Butts today. In his freshman campaign he logged 3.5 minutes per game in six appearances.

The more than capable long-range sniper looks forward to his new journey.

“I chose ULL because of the connection I had with the staff. They made it a priority to reach out to me everyday and were the only school to take time out to do a virtual tour and give me a visual of the campus. Basically, the coaches did all the small things to let me know I was a priority.”

At 6-foot-6, Butts has the size and shot making ability to make an immediate impact in the Sun Belt and is ready to show and prove.

“My vision for this new opportunity is to come in and help out to the best of my abilities and play my game the way I know I can. My style of play fits their system perfectly, so I think this is the best opportunity for me. I believe I can make all my dreams come true at ULL.”

Bob Marlin and the Ragin Cajuns were relentless in recruiting Butts resulting in a pledge while the COVID-19 pandemic has campus visits on hold nationwide. He was also courted by East Tennessee, James Madison, North Carolina A&T, UNC-Greensboro, and UT-Martin to name a few.
